Over the past year I have had a bit of a falling out with Low Carbing, life was too busy and sometimes that can really wreck a good thing. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Over the past year I have had a bit of a falling out with Low Carbing, life was too busy and sometimes that can really wreck a good thing. Anyway for those of your who have come back to read articles of this blog, or even for those of you who are only now discovering this blog; I’d just like to say I’M BACK! <img src='http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Alright well, I should be getting you quite a few new articles up in the very near future and as always I look forward to your comments and support.</p>
<p>For the past few months I have discovered why I loved low carbing so much—well aside for the ability to eat as much meat and veggies as I like that is—I am allergic to quite a few of the carb-filled delights our general population enjoy as a daily food source—namely wheat, corn and all things made of corn—such as the corn syrup that is found is practically everything now a days for no apparent reason.</p>
<p>I would love to ask someone why exactly we need high fructose corn syrup in our bread, in our ketchup and in our mayonnaise, but I am guessing it comes down to it being dirt cheap. Sadly if you are one of those unlucky people like myself that makes all of those foods a very bad idea to eat.</p>
<p>I have also found out what a lot of you guys that may have stopped low carbing for a time found out, eating all of those carbs all the time makes me feel tired and sick all the time. That is no way to live a full and wonderful life, so it is time to make a change once more.</p>
<p>One other note I would like to mention here in my little rant. Just because you are low carbing doesn’t mean you are NO carbing. Sometimes a few carbs are okay, in the case of most men NO carbing will make you very tired all the time if you don’t have <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> snacks all day.</p>
<p>This is not a problem it’s just a fact, and a little bit of carbs are good for you, just try and make sure you are getting good carbs and not some sugar carbs from a bunch of ice-cream or something.</p>
<p>Ideally you will find a balance for yourself, one that allows you to have a few carbs without a major problem—and if you are like me, finding carbs that don’t come from something you are allergic to is more of a problem as you are low carbing to feel good, not get ill from allergies etc.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s that time of year again. Yeah you know what time of year I mean. Time to get into shape again for the summer months, reevaluate your life and in general just try and get healthier.</p>
<p>So why not start off right with a <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> diet! It&#8217;s hard to beat a diet that lets you eat meat, vegetables, and dairy products as much as you like.</p>
<p>So lets go ahead and take a few minutes to think over some of the perks to <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2012/01/low-carb-weight-loss/">low carb for weight loss</a>.</p>
<p>In a standard diet you almost always have the following requirements&#8211;which lets face it can make food a lot less interesting and lead to some serious binge moments for most of us.</p>
<p>*Limited Butter &#8212; our favorite flavor is not very popular in traditional diets since it is high in fat content, but for low carbers it&#8217;s not a big deal at all&#8211;and oh so good on steamed vegetables!</p>
<p>*Calorie counting &#8212; really I need to be a math wiz to get healthy? That sucks, I didn&#8217;t even like math class&#8230; <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">Low carb</a> diets rarely count calories, because it&#8217;s the carbs that turn into sugar in your blood that let you store those calories anyway! Not to say you should grab the biggest calorie counting meal you can think of, but generally counting calories isn&#8217;t in a <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> diet.</p>
<p>*Limited meats &#8212; All I can say is, sometimes I man has to have a good steak, it&#8217;s in our genes, according to some studies humans only became highly intelligent AFTER we starting eating meat! I&#8217;m not sure if that&#8217;s because the meat made us smart, or we had to get smart to catch the meat. But I&#8217;m like a lot of folks, and I LOVE a good chunk of meat, be it fish, beef or pork. Most diets restrict your allowed meat intake. Low carbers generally eat meat as a staple food, how cool is that! Bring on the broccoli beef!</p>
<p>*Small meals &#8212; yes, we all tend to over eat, so a little of this can be a good thing, however with most <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> meals you can eat in most cases as much as you like. No half portions for this guy&#8230;</p>
<p>*Tasteless food &#8212; a big problem with a lot of diets is simply that the food is bland. I mean if you take out the butter, salt, and meat, where do you get the flavors from? With most <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> dishes the food is often more flavorful then normal. Meats stewed in with vegetables, and eats, or maybe black pepper and some curry powder? Yeah I love my food to taste amazing, and <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> allows me to have my cake and eat it to&#8211;okay not the cake&#8230;.cake is bad most of the time <img src='http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>So if you are like me, the last week or so has been an endless series of thinking of ways to better my life for this year, one of them is to be even more healthy. I will be low carbing and exercising more then last year, and I truly hope some of you will do the same. <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">Low carb</a> is a wonderful way to get healthy, and lose some weight at the same time. And the best part is you can do both while enjoying amazing meals full of flavor!</p>

<p>of 7 days a week, you still see great benefits from eating right, and since you have a day you know you can have that evil cupcake that it calling your name, you can hold off for the right day and feel no guilt at all!</p>
<p>The reason this actually works is because your body tends to think if it gets nothing of some kind of food&#8211;in this case carbs&#8211;it&#8217;s starving and should conserve energy and ba-da-dum store FAT!&#8211;Blame the cavemen they made your body that way to survive, sadly that ability has little use for us today.</p>
<p>Now the awesome part is, your body doesn&#8217;t ever thing it&#8217;s dying since you keep binging on the good stuff once a week, so just as it&#8217;s wondering should I be storing fat, you say NO WAY I have tons of food right here! See?</p>
<p>The end result is you have less cravings&#8211;and can better hold off until your prearranged binge day for them&#8211;and your body never gets to thinking you are in another ice age. It&#8217;s like the best of both worlds!</p>

<p>I found out when I was in my early twenties that carbs just didn&#8217;t agree with me, I&#8217;d eat a meal, and then find myself barely able to keep my eyes open, often I would just go take a nap&#8211;you know what happens when you eat a ton of carbs, and then sleep afterwards&#8230;well lets just say it&#8217;s a common practice for sumo wrestlers in japan. Since I don&#8217;t want to become a sumo wrestler, I decided to take action instead.</p>
<p>I found that if I cut most of the carbs out of my meals, I felt much more awake, and didn&#8217;t end<br />
up wanting to take a nap break right after a meal, so far it&#8217;s working rather well for me&#8211;I will note that men tend to burn a lot more energy then women, in some case cutting too many carbs out will make a man fatigued, so you maay have to eat at least a few carbs now and then, and I am sure some woman require a few carbs to feel energized as well.</p>
<p>Our problem isn&#8217;t really the carbs exactly, it&#8217;s the fact we eat a TON of them, and they are highly processed foods, that are body can barely even break down properly&#8211;carbs take a lot of energy to break down, which is one of the reasons people will get sleepy after a large carb-filled meal.</p>
<p>Another issue is that carbs in general, break down in your body a lot like sugar does, which everyone knows isn&#8217;t the greatest thing to eat in massive quantities anyway.</p>
<p>But back to the original topic what is a <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> diet? It&#8217;s just a diet that tries to minimize your intake of carbs, as simple as that sounds, it really requires a lot of work to do.</p>
<p>Our society is very carb based, everything&#8211;and I mean EVERYTHING, has sugar in it, and most everything has some form of wheat in it. Go into your local grocery store and stop to read the labels on at least ten items, chances are you will have to look for a while to find something<br />
that doesn&#8217;t have sugar or wheat in it, and while your doing this note just how many carbs are in these &#8220;foods&#8221;. It can really be an eye opener for many.</p>
<p>Now just think, imagine if each of those grams of carbohydrats were sugar instead&#8211;which they eventually become in your body, would you really want to eat that much sugar in a meal?</p>
<p>Thankfully for me, eating <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> is fairly easy, I love meat, and I love most vegetables&#8211;which just happen to be some of the foods you can eat without any problem on a <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> diet as they are generally very <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> anyway. As they say BRING ON THE BBQ! <img src='http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

After looking around you can&#8217;t even think of one low carb meal to buy among the endless supply of carb-filled diet destroyers everywhere around you? I sure have. Sometimes I will go into a store knowing I want to buy food for the next few days, and I can&#8217;t for the life of me remember what I can even eat from the store that is low carb&#8230;so I have started making a small list of items that are usually needed for low carb meals. These items will let you make many other tasty low-carb meals and the most of all keep you from grabbing some random carb-filled snack and feeling guilty about it later. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have you ever walked into a grocery store, and then just stopped. After looking around you can&#8217;t even think of one <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> meal to buy among the endless supply of carb-filled diet destroyers everywhere around you? I sure have.</p>
<p>Sometimes I will go into a store knowing I want to buy food for the next few days, and I can&#8217;t for the life of me remember what I can even eat from the store that is <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a>&#8230;so I have started making a small list of items that are usually needed for <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> meals.</p>
<p>These items will let you make many other tasty low-carb meals and the most of all keep you from grabbing some random carb-filled snack and feeling guilty about it later.</p>
<p>Below are some of the items I keep on hand for my <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> meals, obviously you will need to tailor the list to your own likes and dislikes but I think it is always good to have a plan before heading into the store.</p>
<ol>
<li>Eggs – pretty much a stable good, eggs can be used for egg-salad, chef-salads, plain old fried eggs, and the always nice to have snack of boiled eggs in the fridge waiting for that snack time you know is coming.</li>
<li>Canned Tuna – these are great as a shell or a bread replacement as I mentioned previously a few articles back, I always keep them around as they are cheap, and have a nice crispy crunch when you eat them—great topped with egg-salad, bacon, or tuna.</li>
<li>Canned Tuna – provides a great meat that can be used on top of romaine hearts among other things.</li>
<li>Apples – I like to start the day with a fresh organic apple, it&#8217;s a great way to wake up due to the caffeine and not too high in carbs.</li>
<li>Mayonnaise and Mustard – these two are required for egg-salads, tuna and a lot of the other staple foods I keep around.</li>
<li>Bacon – a great and extremely tasty addition to any salad—be it a chef-salad or even egg-salad, bacon also makes a great topping for romaine hearts with a little mayonnaise.</li>
</ol>
<p>With the above items, you should be able to have a romaine heart snack with a topping of your choice for lunch, and a great egg-salad—maybe even with bacon bits in it—for breakfast, after the apple of course.</p>
<p>I highly suggest everyone that truly wants to stick to a low-carb diet create a list of the basic foods they need to keep around to be able to eat how they want. Having a plan when you head into the store will help prevent impulse binging, and help you plan out your meals for each day.</p>
<p>I like to plan for an apple when I wake up—it&#8217;s a bit like having coffee. And then I follow up with something <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> but with a good amount of protein so I have the energy to get on with my day. A sample of a daily plan would be something like what I have below:</p>
<p>8:00 am &#8211; Eat an apple first thing<br />
8:30 am &#8211; Have egg-salad with bacon bits<br />
11:00 am &#8211; Have 3 tuna topped romaine hearts<br />
3:00 pm &#8211; have egg-salad topped romaine hearts – depending on how hungry I am 3 or more.<br />
5:00 pm &#8211; Cook up a nice meal—I love sausage spinach bake for dinners, or a good steak and some steamed broccoli.</p>
<p>Enjoy, I hope having a list of foods to buy when you go into the store will help you as much as it has helped me to avoid buying things I don&#8217;t even want to eat and instead continue to eat a much healthier and satisfying diet.</p>

<p>So without further ado, here are three of my favorite <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> &#8220;Go To&#8221; meals:</p>
<p><strong>1. Bacon Egg Salad</strong><br />
This one is fairly easy, and really quick, I like to plan to eat something with eggs at least once a week, since they are a wonderful option being both <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a>, and versatile in what I can use them for.</p>
<p>I find It&#8217;s usually a good idea to boil up some eggs in bulk&#8211;say 20 at a time&#8211;and just keep them in your fridge for whatever meal comes up.</p>
<p>For bacon egg sallied, you can easily mince up some of the eggs you have in the fridge&#8211;or boil some, but that takes longer&#8211;and either cook a few strips of bacon, or mix in some bacon bits for a similar flavor.</p>
<p>I usually mix in mustard and mayonnaise, and then serve on a plate, you will be surprised how filing it can be.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients you need on hand:</strong></p>
<p>Mayonnaise<br />
Mustard<br />
Eggs&#8211;at least 3<br />
Bacon&#8211;or bacon bits</p>
<p><strong>2. Chef Salad</strong><br />
Always a good go to meal, a chef salad often makes a great meal earlier in the day as it&#8217;s usually fairly light, and won&#8217;t knock you out, but will provide enough fuel for some time to keep you going.</p>
<p>Personally I like to take some of the boiled eggs I keep in the fridge, and mince them up, and then add them along with some grated cheese and usually either diced ham, or bacon to the salad.</p>
<p>Add some ranch dressing and you have one of the best meals with low carbs around&#8211;and its good for you as well.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients you need on hand:</strong></p>
<p>Boiled Egg<br />
Diced Ham, or bacon bits<br />
Grated Cheese<br />
Bag of Salad Lettuce<br />
Dressing</p>
<p><strong>3. Romaine Heart True BLTs</strong><br />
If you have read many of my other articles you will know I love using Romaine Hearts to create meals with low carbs. In this case I would have some bacon strips cooked up&#8211;either in the fridge, or even microwavable with a handy bacon cooker&#8211;makes bacon in about 7 minutes perfectly.</p>
<p>This has to be one of the simplest meals to make. First take a romaine heart and lay it out flat, add a thin layer of mayonnaise to the leaf, and then lay a strip or two of bacon over the leaf.</p>
<p>Personally I am not fond of tomatoes unless they are ketchup, but you can also add tomato slices. Usually for a light lunch I will have three large leafs with bacon and a little mayonnaise on them. for a true Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich..</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients you need on hand:</strong><br />
Romaine Lettuce Hearts<br />
Bacon Strips<br />
Sliced Tomatoes<br />
Mayonnaise</p>
<p>And there you have it, three of my favorites. It is import to keep the ingredients on hand so that when you do come home, and just want some thing quick and easy you don&#8217;t go for the sugar filled junk that is offered in endless bunk at most of the stores today.</p>
<p>The best part is of course not only will these foods, taste great, and be guilt free, but they won&#8217;t knock you out afterwards either!</p>

<p>But for those of you like myself this <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">Low Carb</a> Bread isn&#8217;t carb free enough for my liking. One of my favorite bread substitutes is Romaine Lettice, which can be used for a bread of sorts&#8211;add you cheese, bacon and other sandwich content on to the romaine and eat like a taco.<br />
They are make wonderful taco shells, as long as you are not using anything hot in them&#8211;so cold tacos are best with romaine.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eating <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> doesn&#8217;t always have to be hard or feel like you are missing out, some easy snacks are available right at your grocery store. Even in the deli&#8211;which is actually a very good spot to look for many <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> snacks&#8211;or if you have a little extra time you can whip together some snacks with romaine hearts that will have you carb-munching friends wanting your food regardless.</p>
<p>Lets start with the diet killer that most people fail with all the time. the sweet snack on the run, there are actually a few of them that are easy to get at the store and totally carb free.</p>
<ol>
<li>Suger-free jello or pudding &#8211; Many options are now available in most stores that are both sugar free and CARB FREE! and of course the best part is they taste great to boot.</li>
<li>Egg salad or deviled Eggs &#8211; both of these options generally don&#8217;t include much really other then eggs, which are wonderfully low in carbs but high in protein to give you a nice energy boost right when you need it.</li>
<li>Salads &#8212; be they pre-made or at a salad bar, salads are very <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a>, and a light meal that will leave you feeling awake instead of tired and groggy.</li>
<li>Deli Foods&#8212;yeah you heard me&#8211;try eating chicken, or tuna salads&#8211;and of course shrimp. Even most friend chicken is low in carbs as long as you can get it un-breaded.</li>
<li>Vegetables &#8212; like celery sticks, celery is <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> and so low in calories that you will actually burn more calories chewing it then you will gain from eating it. Find a <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> dip and have a nice tastey little snack.</li>
<li>Cheeses &#8211; such as the wrapped individual cheese in foil or wax make a great snack food, and are <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">low carb</a> and high in protein. Besides who doesn&#8217;t like Mini-Bel cheese?</li>
<li>Fruits &#8211; though you will want to eat only the low sugar fruits since sugar = carbs. Some fruits that are fairly low in sugar are: Strawberries, Nectarines, Cantaloupes and good old Apples.</li>
<li>Yogurt &#8212; of course the sugar free kind, makes a great snack, you may have to search around a bit for a brand that doesn&#8217;t have anything too bad in it and is still sugar free and tastes good. You might try getting plain sugar free yogurt and adding your are fruits like the ones above to it.</li>
<li>Some energy bars &#8212; Such as the ones by Atkins can be a good <a href="http://www.lowcarbfoodlisting.com/2011/12/low-carb-new-year/">Low Carb</a> Meal Replacement, but you will have to read the labels and make sure they fit your diet plans.</li>
<li>Romaine Hearts and a Deli Meat &#8211; Try taking romaine hearts and putting a thin layer of mayo, or cream cheese then top with your favorite lunch meat and you have an amazing bread free snack.
